Introduction
InvictaGC is a community for competitive TCG & board game players. During our soft launch phase (begun in May 2026), the focus was on the community building. Adding supported titles, and searching for players to join us.
The soft launch phase will slowly morph into the “launched” phase. As the community grows, every game will grow. Since those games will grow at different paces, games will be ready for different types of events at different times. The transition from community to competitive community will be gradual. But for Trading Card Games, those phases will go through 4 phases: challenge leagues > weekly leagues > monthly tournaments > The Masters
What do those phases mean?
Challenge Leagues
A challenge league is essentially just pick-up games. Emulating the idea of sitting down at your FLGS and running games against friends. Players can play at their own pace, as often or as rarely as they would like. These leagues run through the entire calendar year with a champion being crowned at the end of the year.
To play a challenge league match, you have to have an Invictagc.com account. Then join the league for the game you intend to participate in. From there, issue a challenge to another player. When they accept the challenge, you schedule the match at a time that works for both of you. Once the match is complete, report the result, and the standings are updated automatically.
Challenge leagues are casual. They are a great place to meet other players, and learn a new game. Or, practice a new deck build, and prep for a big event. It’s a way to challenge yourself, and make your games in Jinteki, or on webcam mean something just a little bit extra.
Weekly Leagues
Once a title’s Challenge League grows to 8-12 regularly active players, we will add a weekly league. Much like a Friday Night Magic, or Pokemon League, these will be run like your FLGS’ weekly leagues. Players show up, sit down, and run 3 or 4 matches in Swiss Rounds events. Weekly leagues could potentially have prize support, dependent on title, and player base. But these are also meant to be relatively casual. A more serious version of our challenge league.
Bi/Monthly Tournaments
When a game gets to about 32 players regularly competing in casual and/or weekly events, we will begin to run regular monthly or bimonthly tournaments. These events will more than likely have prize support of some sort, and low entry fees to support the prizing. These events will look much more similar to the online events that most people are accustomed to. For events with higher attendance, events could potentially be livestreamed.
The Masters
The Masters is the dream that convinced me to launch InvictaGC. The dream is to run one major event every year. When a game reaches the level that we can authentically promote a World Championship-level event, we will start promoting The Masters.
Every game that can support a WC event will participate in The Masters, which will be a 1-day, 16 player, single elimination, invitation only “made for streaming” event.
Stay tuned.
